2011 REP. TRYOUTS

My name is Dave Brooks and my grandson, Dominick White tried out for the rep team.  Unfortunately he didn’t make it but I am writing this email to say thank you and congratulate the coaches who handled the tryouts and to say how well it was done.  I was impressed with the manner in which they talked to Dominick after and told him he had not made the team.  They were truly professional and treated him like a person and not just a number.  Dominick was impressed with the coaches and the way that he was treated and what he learned.

TANNER RECEIVES A SCHOLARSHIP

Today was a great day in my house. My son, Tanner Nivins, was offered and committed to a scholarship at a NCAA division 1 school ,Stony Brook University. Tanner has been a part of KMBA since 1999. I would like to share this success with Kitchener Minor Ball and say thank you to not only the organization but to one coach, Ken Schilling. Coach Schilling is the finest example there is of a role model to a young adult. His unwavering support to my son, no doubt had a role in Tanner's success. He gave instruction both on and off the field and I have no doubt in my mind that Tanner is the person that he is because someone like Coach Schilling crossed his path.

Best regards and wishes for continued success in your organization,

Wendy-Lee Nivins

Too often we view our youth as trouble makers who don’t care about their community. The fact that they spent the morning with young children, with limited skills, but lots of enthusiasm speaks volumes to the dedication of many of our young people. I was also impressed with the leadership of their coach, sliding into bases with two little girls at his heels. We were all having fun and laughing, at the game and our mistakes, which is so important if we are to get our children to a point of loving the game, whether we are at home plate or in the bleachers.

Thank you again for the role you have played in my son’s first season. He is not a strong player (yet), but he is trying. On Saturday, he was up and dressed for ball before I was!

Best regards,

Deb DeJong
